VOG on the Big Island

August 27, 2008

Madame Pele has been gracing the island with her presence the last few months. Her current activity at Halemaumau Crater has caused a plume of smoke and volcanic gas containing sulfur dioxide (VOG). Please see the link http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/ for more information and current readings of VOG levels.
